  • How does financial modelling differ from traditional business plans?
Financial modelling differs from traditional business plans in its focus on creating detailed, quantitative representations of a company's financial performance. The emphasis is on assumptions made, how realistic they are, comparison with similar businesses, covenants and ratios based on performance, assets, working capital, and debt service, especially if there are high levels of borrowed funds. Lenders have to be satisfied that the proposal is viable at the outset and closely examine the assumptions and level of risk included. Be aware that these assumptions will be closely examined and challenged by the lenders. Subsequently, the model has to updated with actual results and a forecast for future periods. How frequently updates are required depend on the terms agreed with the lender. This is usually quarterly. As a rule, no shareholder distributions such as interest on shareholder loans and dividends can be made unless compliance with covenants can be confirmed. In some cases, the updated model has to be submitted to lenders or their representatives for approval. These restrictions will be imposed until the loans are repaid. There are other financial models to provide financial planning and analysis that existing systems do not cater for. This is a diverse area from simple scenarios based on a single data source to more complex ones involving multiple systems, departments and functional areas. Data from multiple sources has to combined into one view before any analysis or reporting is possible. Business plans provide a broader overview of a company's goals, strategies, and market analysis whereas financial modelling delves into specific financial aspects such as revenue projections, expense forecasts, cash flow analysis, and scenario planning. At AnalytixPlanning, we understand the critical importance of accurate financial modelling, when it comes to: 1). Supporting high levels of lending, maintaining compliance with covenants, and optimizing lending ratios, 2). Complexity in merging data from different sources, departments and functional areas into a unified view, and 3). Bespoke and highly customised model for any other scenario. By leveraging advanced financial modelling techniques, we can help our clients make informed strategic decisions. Our expertise in financial modelling allows us to provide customized, data-driven solutions that align with our clients' unique needs and goals, empowering them to achieve sustainable financial success. We have expertise in all these diverse areas.
  • What is data integration and how does it benefit my business?
Data integration is the process of combining data from different sources into a unified view, enabling businesses to have a comprehensive and accurate understanding of their operations. We specialize in data integration for our clients, allowing them to merge data from various systems, such as sales, marketing, finance, and operations, into a single source of truth. This unified data allows for better decision-making, improved operational efficiency, and the ability to generate actionable insights. By blending data, businesses can streamline processes, reduce errors, and gain a holistic view of their performance, ultimately leading to improved productivity and profitability. Our approach to data blending is tailored to the unique needs of each client, ensuring that the process aligns with their specific business goals and objectives. Data integration enables cross checks of data from different sources. Any anomalies should be resolved, ensuring consistency of data across departments and functional areas. There are many instances, for example, of finance team reporting one set of figures and other operational teams reporting different ones. Businesses cannot make informed decisions unless the data is consistent. We have experience of a company using a financial application to record actual transactions and a costing system to track costs and submit final costing to their clients. Data was input into the financial application and duplicate paper copies used to update the costing system. The two data sources were not reconciled. There were many cases of costs not recorded in the costing system. Once the costs were finalised with their client, any subsequent costs had to be borne by the company. This has a direct effect of reducing earnings. Please do not fall into this trap. AnaltyixPlanning can provide a tailored solution to this issue. Analytix First, Then Planning.

  • How does PlanningAnalytix assist with data migration and why is it important in implementing financial systems?

On implementing new systems and applications, data has to migrated from previous and legacy to current systems and applications.
